Born and raised in Texas, Andrew was drawn to music at an early age. He picked up the Guitar at age 12, and it wasn't long before he realized music was his inevitable path. He began his serious musical study at age 15 while attending Idyllwild Arts Academy in California. He studied under Jazz legend Marshall Hawkins, and a love of Jazz and early American contemporary music was born.  He continued his studies, earning a bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music. He followed with a master's degree from New England Conservatory in Jazz studies. There he studied with Jazz/Fusion legends Bob Moses and Jerry Bergonzi.

After graduate school, he moved the New York City to join "Shayna Zaid and the Catch" an acoustic pop outfit that would experience brief success in commercial licensing (2011 Ford Edge ad campaign, MTV's Real World New Orleans and others). He would co-write and arrange their debut album "Lighthouse," produced by veteran producer John Agnello ( Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile). The band toured the college circuit and played several major festivals, (SXSW, Summerfest, and CMJ) before disbanding in 2012.

He would then turn his focus back to Jazz, as well as another form of traditional American music, Bluegrass.  In late 2012, he joined a New York based experimental Bluegrass outfit "The NYCity Slickers,"  which toured nationally and internationally, while also making regular appearances in New York City venues.

In the winter of 2017, He teamed up with Latin Grammy nominated Argentinian Saxophonist Julio Botti and became a member of his South American Jazz Project, which features arrangements of modern tango titan, Astor Piazzolla. In 2018, the group released an Album, Jazz/Tango Fusion, which received consideration from the Latin Grammy Academy.

He is currently applying for a doctorate in music, while continuing to compose, teach, perform, and grow as an artist.

As an educator, Andrew has taught privately, as well as full-time public school music. In 2018, he earned Master of Arts in Music Education from Hunter College in Manhattan. He is currently the full-time music teacher at PS.64, a school in the lower east side of Manhattan. He is a passionate educator, and he believes music has an outsized correlation with socio-emotional development and student efficacy. He enjoys introducing students to different musical styles and cultures, while allowing students to cultivate individual creativity. He teachers Guitar, Violin, Drums, Xylophone, Recorders, and a host of other instruments in the classroom. Andrew also teaches as an adjunct professor at Hunter College, preparing graduate students to enter the teaching profession.
